I am an independent jewellery designer based on the beautiful coastline, of Devon, UK.

I make jewellery because I love making jewellery! I can’t imagine any gift that is given with such thought, heart, emotion and love. My inspiration comes from the amazing natural scenery surrounding my home on the Jurassic Coast, my herd of peaceful alpacas who have graced my pastures for almost 20 years and my beloved, faithful and loyal band of English Pointers. You’ll see they crop up here and there throughout Sue Thomas Creative!

A constant source of inspiration, the magnificent sea from my garden

As a jewellery maker, my aim is to distil natural forms to their simplest, pure shapes, capturing their inifinte beauty. Paring down shapes to create wearable nature. Weird as it seems, I am passionate about lichen! The incredible biology behind the organisms, the shapes and colours are skeletally magnificent. You’ll see many design references to these magical, mini ecosystems crafted into my designs.

Magical ‘finds’ from coastal walks in the shape of discarded shells, seeds & leaves are integrated into designs for pendants and earrings, all set in recycled, precious metals with gemstones.

My stitched work is similarly inspired. Embroidered creations are ‘frozen’ behind museum glass, like historical specimens or botanical drawings of old. The vision is preserved to bring pleasure for years to come.

Nature to adorn

Lichen

Each cup is of course the place where fairies go to drink. The diamonds placed in some of the cups represent littles drops of dew, much needed refreshment after the mischief of the night before!

Infinite circle

The organic simplicity of the infinite circle represents continuity in both nature and affection. Created in recycled silver, the sustainable choice.

Memorial jewellery

Cast in silver or gold, ashes from a treasured pet can be incorporated into a pendant or ring. Forming the texture in precious metal gives a lasting memorial, a unique piece designed, sculpted and cast for you.
