Memorial Ring

I adore my dogs!

When you share your life with a loyal companion, the sadness is palpable when the time comes to say goodbye. I wanted to memorialise the life of a beautiful dog in a ring, using his ashes. The ashes were cast with molten silver forming the texture of the ring, but also microscopic elements in the ashes are incorporated into the metal. The casting can be very deep or have a more refined look depending on the ashes used. Silver or gold can be cast to make the jewellery.

I have included 2 videos to explain the process and some examples of the rings made for myself and for others.

If you would like a ring or pendant necklace made with ashes of your pet, do get in touch. We can discuss your wishes with total sensitivity, and rest assured that I will personally handle every aspect of the design, sculpting, casting and finishing for you, cherishing your precious memories.

The process…

The first part of the process is to sculpt the design of ring and create this ‘master’ for your finger size in wax.

When the ring is complete in wax, it is used to create a mould for a traditional technique called sand casting. The molten metal is poured into the negative space created by the mould with a small amount of ashes added (less than a teaspoon of ashes required).

When the metal is cool it is removed from the sand, the ‘spue’ is sawn away and the ring (or pendant) is filed and polished.

If you would like to discuss a Memorial Ring or Necklace, do get in touch and I’ll give you a call.
